Taking advantage and having sex with 14-year girl.
Teenager Sentenced for Sexual Offence Against 14-Year-Old Girl
Curtis Goodwin, now 18, was sentenced in Southampton Crown Court for engaging in sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl last summer when he was 17.
The court heard that Goodwin took advantage of the girl's vulnerability, which stemmed from her age and her attempt to acquire cannabis. Despite knowing her age, he proceeded with the sexual activity.
The victim, now 15, described the profound impact the crime has had on her life, stating she feels "dirty" and unable to overcome the experience. She expressed feelings of depression and difficulty in coping with daily life.
Goodwin pleaded guilty to three charges of engaging in sexual activity with the girl and one of inciting her to engage in sexual activity. He was sentenced to two years in youth detention, suspended for two years, with a five-year restraining order barring him from contacting his victim.
Judge Christopher Parker QC emphasized the seriousness of the offence and warned Goodwin that any future involvement with young girls would result in a significantly longer sentence.
Goodwin was also ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work and must register as a sex offender.
