Curtis Green, a 28-year-old man from Rhondda Cynon Taff, was sentenced to eight years in prison for the brutal rape of a woman.

During the attack, Green repeatedly hit his victim while they were having sex, ignoring her pleas to stop. He dragged her back to the bed when she attempted to escape and laughed at her distress. The court heard that Green derived sexual gratification from the violence inflicted upon the victim.

Judge Eugene Egan described Green's actions as "brutal" and stated that he was "sexually turned on by the use of violence". The victim, in a harrowing statement read to the court, detailed the lasting trauma she has endured. She spoke of feeling lost, emotionally numb, and constantly living with fear and insecurity.

Green denied the charges, claiming the encounter was consensual, but a jury found him guilty. He will serve two-thirds of his sentence before being released on licence and is subject to a restraining order and sex offender notification requirements indefinitely.
