Man Jailed for Exposing Himself on London Underground

Dan Pirvu, 26, of Ripple Road, Barking, has been sentenced to nine months in prison after being found guilty of exposing himself on the London Underground.

The incident occurred on Friday, November 17, 2023, at approximately 9:05 pm on the District Line platform of West Ham underground station. A member of the public reported a man, later identified as Pirvu, exposing his genitals.

CCTV footage confirmed Pirvu's actions, showing him with his trousers around his knees, exposing himself. This caused members of the public to move away from him. A TfL staff member also witnessed the incident and reported it to British Transport Police.

Police arrived at the station and arrested Pirvu at 9:13 pm. He was subsequently sentenced on August 14, 2023, at Inner London Crown Court.

In addition to the prison sentence, Pirvu was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years and given a 5-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order. The order includes specific conditions designed to prevent further offenses.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Michael Taylor stated, "There is no place for this kind of behavior on the rail network and we will work quickly to apprehend these kinds of offenders. I hope this sentence, along with the Sexual Harm Prevention Order, will give him time to reconsider his actions and prevent him from offending again in the future."
