Teacher Daniel Fuge Jailed for 10 Years for Grooming Boys Online

A former primary school teacher has been jailed for 10 years after being convicted of tricking two boys into sending him explicit images.

Daniel Fuge, 38, from Dorset, posed as a 16-year-old girl online to manipulate the boys, who were aged 13 and 14. Fuge was found guilty by a jury last month at Mold Crown Court of inciting both boys into sexual activity.

Prosecuting, Eric Lamb told the court that Fuge encouraged the first boy to send naked photos and then videos of himself performing sexual acts. Police investigations revealed that Fuge had also contacted a second boy using the same account, inciting him to send indecent images.

Fuge was working as a primary school teacher in Saudi Arabia at the time of the offences. When arrested in summer 2022, he attempted to evade capture by throwing himself in front of a train, resulting in a fractured arm. He was later found and charged with the offenses.

During sentencing, the judge described Fuge as "depraved" and acknowledged the devastating impact his actions had on the victims. The first victim's father read a powerful statement to the court, expressing his son's emotional turmoil and the fear for his safety due to Fuge's online presence.

The second victim's mother expressed her worry for her "broken boy" and the constant vigilance she had to maintain to ensure his well-being. Despite the trauma, both mothers emphasized their sons' resilience and determination to overcome this experience.

Judge Rhys Rowlands sentenced Fuge to 10 years in prison, with a seven-year sentence for inciting the first boy and a three-year sentence for the same offense against the second boy. He was also ordered to sign the sex offender register and comply with a sexual harm prevention order for ten years.

Fuge is prohibited from contacting his victims indefinitely and is barred from working with children or vulnerable adults.
