Worcestershire Man Jailed for Rape
Daniel Jones, 28, of Hancocks Lane, Welland, was sentenced to 17 years in prison at Worcester Crown Court today (Friday 12 November) for two counts of rape.
In April 2020, Jones contacted a woman on the social media app Whisper. He traveled to meet her in Norfolk, raped her, and stole her wedding and engagement rings. Then in January 2021, following further interaction on social media, he drove to meet a woman in Somerset, took her back to his home address, and raped her.
The victims bravely came forward to officers, who were able to identify Jones and arrest him. Following investigations, he was subsequently charged with two counts of rape and found guilty at a trial in October 2021.
Detective Constable Carl Shenton said: "I would like to thank the victims for coming forward and giving their evidence, as well as the bravery they have shown in doing so. Hopefully, this sentence will offer them some sort of closure and allow them to move forward with their lives."
