A 52-year-old paedophile, David Collins, has been sentenced to five years in prison for sexually abusing two young children.

Collins, a former game developer for Sony, was found guilty of three counts of sexual assault by touching of two children under 13 years old at Croydon Crown Court.

The abuse took place over several years and Collins was found with hundreds of indecent images of the children, including selfies he took during the assaults.

The families of the victims have spoken out about the devastating impact of the abuse and the five-year wait for justice.

One relative of Child A, who was abused while sitting on Collins' lap, described watching their child change from a "bubbly young kid to a sad, depressed child."

They said: "It's taken five long years, it's shocking. That is what has done half of the mental health damage because the whole long process of it all and it being years before they were interviewed again."

The family also expressed concern that further victims may not have come forward and urged anyone with information to contact the police.

A relative of Child B said: "We don't believe that he woke up at the age of 40 and decided I'm going to play with a child today. We believe there are more victims."

Collins was also made the subject of a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
