Town: Oxford
Convicted: 26/09/2022
Sex offender who breached internet device ban.
David Jones, a 34-year-old man from Oxford, was sentenced to 16 months in prison for breaching his sexual harm prevention order.
Jones admitted to using his internet-enabled television to view indecent images of children, including those of girls who appeared to be 12-13 years old.
He had previously been convicted of similar offenses and was released from prison on license in October 2021. However, police found him watching explicit material on his PlayStation, which led to the confiscation of the device.
Despite claiming he didn't trust himself to avoid looking at indecent images, Jones continued his illegal activities by accessing pornography on his Smart TV.
When confronted by police, Jones admitted to deleting his browser history and admitted to viewing both adult and child pornography since the seizure of his PlayStation.
Judge Nigel Daly expressed his frustration with Jones's repeated offenses, stating that he was "ashamed" and "remorseful" for his actions, but had continued to engage in illegal behavior.
Jones was recalled to prison to serve the remainder of his original sentence and is expected to seek support for his addiction to child pornography.
