Former Cumbria Police Worker Jailed for Child Sex Abuse Images
David Robinson, 46, was sentenced to six years in prison for possessing and distributing indecent images of children. The court heard that Robinson used his computer to access and share images and videos of child sexual abuse, engaging in disturbing conversations with other paedophiles.
Robinson, of Waldegrave Road, Carlisle, pleaded guilty to 20 counts related to the possession and distribution of indecent images. The disturbing details of his crimes included offering to purchase a child online for abuse, decorating a room in his house for a child, and applying to become a foster carer for young boys.
The court heard that some of the images involved children as young as five and were classified as the most serious "Category A" type. Judge Peter Hughes QC stated that Robinson presented a deceptive facade to the world while engaging in deeply disturbing online activity.
Robinson was employed as a front counter worker at Cumbria Police when he was arrested in October 2023. He was immediately suspended and left the force in January.
Det Insp Doug Marshall emphasized the severity of the crimes, stating that the images Robinson possessed and distributed were the result of the abuse and suffering of children. He reiterated that these actions constitute criminal offenses.
In addition to his prison sentence, Robinson was ordered to register as a sex offender and was given a life-long sexual offences prevention order.
