Child abuser committed horrific sex attacks on an extremely young girl.
Serial Sex Offender Jailed for Further Crimes
David Robert Stingemore, 68, has been sentenced to an additional six years and eight months in prison for further child-sex offenses, bringing his total sentence to over 25 years.
Stingemore was already serving an 18-and-a-half-year prison term for offenses committed in the 1980s, including the rape of a young girl in Scarborough. In 2020, another victim came forward to police, detailing the abuse she had suffered at Stingemore's hands when he was in his late 20s and early 30s.
Stingemore admitted to two counts of indecent assault and one count of indecency with a child. The indecent assault charges involved penetration on 10 separate occasions.
The victim, now an adult, described the lasting impact of the abuse, stating that it had "many effects on my life, some of which still cause me problems all these years later". She struggles with trust and forming relationships, and experiences anxiety and depression as a result of the trauma.
Judge Simon Hickey described Stingemore's actions as "extremely serious sexual offenses" against a "very young girl" and stated that the "prolonged, sustained" abuse had led to "lifelong, severe psychological harm".
Stingemore will remain on the sex-offenders' register for the rest of his life and will serve an extended three-year period on prison licence if he is ever released.
