Sex Offender Dominic Middleton Prioritizes Domino's Shift Over Court Order

A convicted sex offender, Dominic Middleton, was sentenced for failing to comply with a court order. The reason cited by Middleton's defense was his need to prioritize a shift as a pizza delivery driver over fulfilling his legal obligation.

Middleton, 28, was previously jailed in 2016 for sexual activity with a child and is subject to lifelong notification requirements. These requirements mandate that he inform the police within three days of any changes to personal details or opening new bank accounts.

Despite admitting to breaching these notification requirements, Middleton's defense attorney argued that his failure stemmed from a scheduling conflict. According to the attorney, Middleton was unable to reach the police station in time due to an early shift at Domino's Pizza, where he works long hours (11am to 11pm). He claimed his employer would not allow him to start later and threatened disciplinary action if he was late.

District Judge Christopher Williams emphasized the seriousness of breaching sexual harm prevention orders or notification requirements, stating that it puts individuals at risk of sexual harm. Despite the mitigating circumstances presented, Middleton was sentenced to a six-week suspended prison sentence and ordered to pay £299 in costs.
