Paedophile Jailed for Possessing Over 1,000 Indecent Images of Children

Dominic Osborne Robinson, 34, has been sentenced to 20 months in prison after being found in possession of over 1,000 indecent images of children.

Police raided Robinson's home in Colchester after receiving a tip-off that he had been uploading indecent images and engaging in online conversations about child abuse. During the raid, officers seized three phones, a laptop, a tablet, and several cameras, all of which contained a mix of category A, B, and C images, as well as sexually explicit communications with children.

Robinson was arrested at his workplace in Portsmouth on January 28, 2019. At Portsmouth Crown Court on Tuesday, he pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs of children, two counts of attempting sexual communication with a child, and one count of encouraging or assisting the commission of an offence believing it would be committed.

In addition to his prison sentence, Robinson must register as a sex offender for ten years and will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the same duration.

DC Stephen Hill of Hampshire Constabulary's Internet Child Abuse Team stated: "Behind every indecent image of a child is a vulnerable victim, and these crimes are among the most appalling that we investigate. Robinson is a habitual collector of indecent images, including the most serious category A images, for his own sexual gratification. He was not only found to possess such images but also actively sought to communicate with children. Tackling online viewing of indecent images and safeguarding children online is a priority for the police, and we will do everything in our power to bring offenders to justice."
