Logan, now 20 years old, was convicted of downloading images of child sexual abuse between March 2014 and December 2017 at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court in June.

He had previously been convicted in 2016, when he was 17, of eight cases of sexual assault, one of those on a six-year-old child. Logan received a supervision order for these offenses.

For the recent child pornography charges, Logan pleaded guilty and his existing supervision order was extended by three years. Despite this, he was released and rehoused in Sim Street, Stewarton, sparking protests from local residents.

The fact that Logan was immediately given a mobile phone and rehoused by East Ayrshire Council upon his release has raised concerns.

It is important to note that neither the police nor any of the agencies involved are required to inform neighbours that a new tenant is a convicted sex offender.
