Sex Offender Fined for Failing to Notify Police of Address
Edwin Eddie Toop, 52, has been fined after admitting to failing to inform police of his current address. Toop, who is required to notify police of his whereabouts annually, was found to be in breach of his notification requirements under the sex offenders register.
The incident occurred in Farnborough, where Toop had been residing without informing the authorities. This violation stems from Toop's conviction in 2006, where he was sentenced to five years in prison for two counts of causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
The court heard that Toop had forced his victim to perform sex acts on him on multiple occasions. At the time of the offences, Toop was employed as a bus driver in Reading and was on sick leave following an acid attack. Despite the allegations against him, Toop continued to drive buses for a year, a fact that drew criticism towards his employer, Reading Buses.
David Renwick, prosecuting, informed magistrates that Toop had last notified police of his address, located at Curly Bridge Close, Farnborough, on August 17, 2021.
