Watford Man Francis Keeley Jailed for Failing to Comply With Sex Offender Register

Watford Man Sentenced to Prison for Failing to Comply with Sex Offender Register Requirements

Francis Keeley, a 51-year-old man from Watford, was sentenced to 56 days in prison for breaching the requirements of the sex offenders' register. Keeley appeared at Hatfield Magistrates' Court on Monday, February 3rd, where he pleaded guilty to failing to comply with court orders.

Court documents state that Keeley demonstrated a "flagrant disregard for court orders," justifying a custodial sentence. On January 21st, he left his registered address without informing the police and failing to update his status within the required three-day timeframe. This breach violated his obligation under the Sexual Offences Act 2003 to register with police.

Prior to his sentencing, Hertfordshire Police appealed for public assistance in locating Keeley, who was considered to be on recall to prison.
