Parents Express Outrage After Convicted Paedophile Resides Near School and Park
Parents in Brough, Yorkshire, are voicing their anger after discovering that convicted paedophile Gareth Roberts, 36, is living near a school and a popular children's park.
Roberts was apprehended in March 2017 with indecent images of children as young as four, including those depicting "discernible pain or distress," as reported by the Hull Daily Mail.
Despite possessing 58 category A images (the most serious), 228 category B images, and 133 category C images, Roberts received a ten-month suspended sentence on Monday.
The community's outrage stems from the fact that Roberts' residence is just two streets away from a well-known children's park and close to Welton Primary School.
Images of the married 36-year-old have been widely shared by concerned residents. The IT consultant's sentence was based on the number of images recovered during the search of his home, as a file-shredding application prevented the determination of the total number of downloaded images.
Parents have taken to social media to express their distress, with one writing: "How has he got away with this? Feel sick that he lives on the next street!" Another added: "From brough aswell another one getting nearer."
Roberts admitted to three offenses of making indecent photographs of children between 2011 and 2017. He had no prior convictions. Roberts was ordered to undergo up to 50 days of rehabilitation and pay 500 costs within 28 days.
