Paedophile handed third sentence in 10 years for looking up indecent images of children.
Gordan Newman, a resident of High Barns Close, has been sentenced to two years and three months in prison for sharing indecent images of children on the social media platform Tumblr.
This is the third time Newman has been convicted of possessing indecent images of children since 2010. He previously received a suspended sentence in 2010 and served time in prison for the same offense in March 2017.
In November 2018, police conducted a spot check at Newman's home as part of his sexual harm prevention order. They discovered his phone was logged into Tumblr and had been used to share images with other online paedophiles in private sessions. Newman's online handle was 'Boundaryless' with the profile description 'not bad but badder'.
During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Newman engaged in conversations with other paedophiles online and made comments like "cute" on images depicting child abuse. Newman later pleaded guilty to distributing and making indecent images of children.
His Honour Judge Roger Tregilgas-Davey, in sentencing, stated that Newman's actions were "so serious that only an immediate custodial sentence can be imposed." He also warned Newman that any future offenses would result in an even longer sentence.
In addition to the prison sentence, a sexual harm prevention order was imposed on Newman for 10 years, preventing him from working with children or vulnerable adults.
