Havant Paedophile Sentenced for Abuse

Gregorio Valencia, a man described as having "good character," was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for sexually abusing a young girl over a year.

Valencia, of Horsebridge Road, began his abuse by touching the girl intimately, taking advantage of opportunities to exploit her. Prosecutor Simon Foster outlined the harrowing details of the abuse, which The News is not repeating in detail.

The victim, in a statement read to the court, described feeling "disgusted and sad" after Valencia's actions. "I felt really scared and strange. He was so nice to me afterwards it made me feel weird," she said.

The girl described experiencing nightmares stemming from the abuse, blaming herself for the ordeal. "I dream a lot about what he did to me, touching me and climbing on top of me. It's like it happened all over again. Then I wake up in silence and think about it all over again. It was terrifying," she said. "I feel guilty and like it is all my fault."

Valencia pleaded guilty to seven offences of sexual activity with a girl and was immediately placed on the sex offenders register. However, when police went to check on him, he was not at the address he had provided, instead living in his car to save money.

Judge Keith Cutler CBE emphasized the severity of Valencia's actions, stating they caused "distress and anxiety" for the victim. "She should not feel guilty at all. There is no blame on her or anyone else," he said. "There's only one person who did wrong by her and that was you. And you are going to pay the price. They were progressive acts that fortunately went no further."

In addition to the prison sentence, Valencia was handed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and will be required to sign the sex offenders register indefinitely.
