Arranging to meet a '13-year-old girl' for sex.

'Dangerous' pervert Ian Robinson jailed for eight years after arranging to meet a '13-year-old girl' for sex.

A 60-year-old registered sex offender, Ian Robinson, has been sentenced to eight years in prison after being caught 'talking sexually' to a child's profile online.

Cheshire Police state that Robinson, of Congleton Road, Sandbach, believed he was communicating with a 13-year-old girl and was arranging to meet her for 'sexual intercourse'.

On October 5, detectives from Cheshire Police's Online Child Abuse Investigations Team, supported by the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit, initiated an investigation into Robinson. Robinson had traveled from his home to Liverpool, where he intended to meet his perceived victim.

However, Robinson was arrested on Edge Lane and taken into custody. He was subsequently charged and remanded the following day, having previously been convicted and imprisoned for a similar offense.

Robinson pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, attempting to meet a girl under 16-years of age, and attempting to arrange the commission of a child sex offense. On November 4, he was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Detective Sergeant Mark Fletcher of Cheshire Police stated: "Ian Robinson is a dangerous offender and has shown he will go to great lengths to offend against children. The work of Cheshire Police officers and the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit has put Robinson behind bars for some time, offering protection to the public. This should serve as a warning to anyone considering committing such offenses. You will be apprehended and imprisoned."
