Mother Calls for Life Sentence for Sex Offender Who Abused Daughter

The mother of a young girl who was sexually abused by convicted sex offender James Moore over a five-year period has demanded a life sentence for her attacker.

Moore, from Coleraine, was sentenced to five years imprisonment yesterday after being found guilty of indecently assaulting the girl, who is now 15 years old. The abuse began when she was just six.

"He stole my daughter's innocence and childhood," the mother stated. "He should never be allowed to walk free again. He deserves to spend the rest of his life behind bars."

The mother's plea for a harsher sentence comes as many in the community express outrage at the leniency of the sentence. They argue that five years is insufficient punishment for the horrific crimes Moore committed.

The case has sparked renewed calls for stricter penalties for sex offenders and increased support for victims of sexual abuse.
