A Morecambe man has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to raping a 16-year-old girl.

Jonathon Downie, 25, lured the victim back to his flat following a party on August 7, 2024. He then gave her alcohol and began sexually touching her despite her pleas for him to stop. Downie continued to rape her until she was able to push him away.

Afterward, Downie questioned the victim if he had raped her. When she confirmed this and asked why he didn't stop when she told him to, he responded with "Are you going to get me done?"

An investigation led to Downie's arrest on suspicion of rape and sexual assault. He was subsequently charged and pleaded guilty to rape at Preston Crown Court.
