Dangerous Keighley Sex Offender Sentenced to Life in Prison

A dangerous Keighley sex offender, Jonathon Warren (33), has been sentenced to life in prison by Judge Andrew Hatton. Warren will serve a minimum term of six years and eight months and will remain on licence for the rest of his life.

Bradford Crown Court heard that Warren had a history of sexual offending, having been imprisoned for eight years in 2005 for the rape of a boy. In November 2022, Warren, who was subject to a lifetime sexual offences prevention order, admitted to a series of sexual abuse charges against two young girls.

Police arrested Warren in October 2022 after receiving information about his involvement in distributing indecent images. A search of his devices revealed 2,086 indecent images of children, including images and videos of him committing sexual acts against the two victims, who were nine and twelve years old at the time.

Warren pleaded guilty to offences relating to the sexual abuse of the two girls, possession and distribution of indecent images and videos, and assault of an emergency worker. His barrister, Abdul Shakoor, acknowledged the "heinous" nature of his crimes.

In sentencing Warren to life imprisonment, Judge Hatton stated that he posed a significant risk of causing serious harm. "I am also sure that that is a risk that is likely to carry on long into the future," the judge said. "I am satisfied that your offending is so serious that a sentence of life imprisonment is required and that's the sentence that I impose."

The judge also imposed a new lifelong sexual harm prevention order on Warren.

Detective Constable Adam Flaxington expressed his satisfaction with the sentence: "I am particularly pleased that the judge has today recognised the abhorrent offending of Warren against two vulnerable girls. This sends a clear message to offenders committing these sorts of offences and I am delighted that his victims will now have justice." He added, "The lengths that Warren went to try and avoid detection and arrest signifies he knew he was looking at a significant sentence when caught. I would also like to thank the Digital Forensic Unit and all their work on the case. Our close work with them has again brought a positive result."
