Rapist Jailed for Ten Years

A 33-year-old man, Jordan Doughty, has been sentenced to ten years in prison for raping a woman in Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire.

The attack occurred in the early hours of January 26, 2020, after Doughty and the victim left a bar in Peterborough. The victim fell asleep on a sofa at Doughty's home, but awoke to find him sexually assaulting her. She resisted, but he ignored her and continued the assault, culminating in rape.

After the attack, Doughty told the victim to "sort herself out" and she fled to her car. While in her car, she called a friend, but was too upset to speak for long. The victim then drove home and received a text message from Doughty apologizing for the attack.

The victim contacted a friend, who called the police. She reported the attack and revealed that Doughty had previously raped her three years prior.

Doughty was arrested and subsequently found guilty of two counts of rape and assault by penetration. He was sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court on March 21.
