Teenager Jailed for Child Rape and Sharing Images Online
An 18-year-old teenager, Josh Davies, has been sentenced to six years and eight months in prison for raping a child and sharing indecent images of the crime online.
Davies, of Crawley Green Road, Luton, uploaded the images to his Snapchat account, where they were detected by Bedfordshire Police's internet child abuse investigation team.
A warrant was executed at his home, leading to his arrest on suspicion of making and distributing indecent images of children. Upon examining his phone, officers discovered further videos and images of Davies sexually abusing a child, resulting in his arrest on suspicion of rape and sexual assault.
Davies pleaded guilty to the charges, including rape, sexual assault, and making indecent images of children.
During questioning, Davies claimed that he was asked to send the images to someone he had met online.
Investigation officer Michela Zasada stated, "Sexual abuse is a horrific experience for any child, leaving lasting scars that can extend into adulthood. We hope this outcome will offer comfort to those affected by Davies's appalling actions. While this sentence cannot undo the damage he has inflicted, at least he no longer poses a threat to children."
