Man Avoids Jail After Groping Woman at Trowbridge Pub

Joshua Reid, 26, appeared before Salisbury Magistrates' Court on Monday (11 September) for sentencing after pleading guilty to sexual assault in June. Reid had previously failed to attend court for sentencing on 24 July and also admitted a charge of failing to surrender.

At a previous hearing, prosecutor Victoria Hill stated that Reid slapped the buttocks of a woman and groped her breasts in a pub garden in Trowbridge during the summer of 2022.

The magistrates imposed a three-year community order, which includes the following requirements:

• 20 rehabilitation activity days with the probation service
• 12 days of mental health treatment with Turning Point
• 34-day sex offender programme

Reid was also ordered to pay the victim £600 compensation and was given a one-year restraining order prohibiting contact with the woman. He will be required to register as a sex offender for five years.

Additionally, Reid, of Milton Cottages, off New Road in Bromham, near Devizes, was fined £50 for failing to surrender.
