Julian Davis Sentenced for Attempted Sexual Activity with a Child
A Worcestershire man who tried to facilitate sexual activity with a child was sentenced to 32 months imprisonment on January 6, 2025.
Julian Davis, 62, from Stourport-on-Severn, was arrested on December 4, 2024, following an operation by officers from West Mercia Police's Online Child Sexual Exploitation Team (OCSET). During the arrest at a location in Worcester, officers found concerning items in Davis' vehicle, including cable ties, handcuffs, a whip, lubricant, amphetamine drugs, Viagra, and baby wipes. Mobile phones were also seized and downloaded for evidence.
Davis was interviewed, charged on December 5, and bailed with conditions prohibiting contact with anyone under 18 years of age before his appearance at Worcester Crown Court. He was found guilty of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, possession of Class B amphetamine, and arranging/facilitating the commission of an offense of sexual activity with a child.
In addition to his prison sentence, Davis was given a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), ordered to sign the sex offenders register indefinitely, and required to pay £150 in costs.
"We carried out this operation on December 4 targeting Davis following intelligence work indicating he was attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child," stated Detective Constable Richard Britton of West Mercia's OCSET. "What we found in his car was alarming and showed his sickening intentions. Fortunately, on this occasion, we were able to stop an offender before they could abuse a child."
Detective Constable Britton added: "We were glad to get charges brought against Davis, and this prison sentence imposed today. Upon his release, he will remain subject to a lifetime sexual harm prevention order and will remain on the sex offenders' register indefinitely.
