Man Sentenced for Possessing and Distributing Child Pornography

Kale Jordan Hughes, formerly of Maes Gwyn in Flint, was sentenced at Mold Crown Court for his possession and distribution of child pornography. He pleaded guilty to downloading over 670 indecent images of children and distributing four indecent videos. He was also found in possession of an extreme pornographic video featuring a sexual act with a dog.

The National Crime Agency alerted North Wales Police to a user on Instagram who had shared an indecent video of a child. Hughes was identified through his IP address and arrested at his home in Flintshire. Upon arrest, Hughes admitted to possessing a collection of child pornography on his phone and other devices. He confessed to viewing this material for at least five years and actively searching for it online.

Prosecutors stated that the children depicted in the images ranged in age from 15 to as young as four. Hughes admitted to joining Telegram groups specifically for sharing child pornography, with some groups containing up to 15 members.

While Hughes' defense claimed he was a man of good character prior to his arrest and expressed remorse, the court deemed his actions serious and disturbing. Judge Rhys Rowlands stated that prison was the only suitable punishment option, citing the scale of Hughes' crimes and his willingness to share the images.

Hughes was sentenced to one year and six months in prison. He is banned from working with children and will be required to register as a sex offender for the next ten years.
