Man Jailed for Sexually Assaulting 13-Year-Old Girl

Kevin Askew, also known as Sean, has been sentenced to six years in prison for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl. The offenses took place in Lancaster.

Askew, of Far Moss, Northside, Workington, pleaded guilty to the charges after initially denying any wrongdoing. The evidence compiled by detectives in West Child Protection Team was overwhelming.

In addition to the prison sentence, Askew has been ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life and has been given an indefinite sexual harm prevention order. This order "significantly limits his interaction with girls under the age of 16."

A Lancashire Police spokesperson stated, "We hope this case and its outcome will encourage other victims of sexual abuse, no matter how historic, to come forward. You can do so knowing you will be listened to, believed, and that Lancashire Police will do everything in our power to keep you safe and bring the perpetrator to justice."
