Kevin Cox, a depraved pedophile, was sentenced to 14 years in prison for the rape of a young girl and possessing indecent images of children.

Cox, 29, was previously handed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) in 2019 after convictions for voyeurism and possessing indecent images. Despite this order, officers discovered during routine checks on January 25, 2023, a horrifying collection of evidence on Cox's devices.

The investigation revealed 39 indecent images of children, mostly Category A, the most explicit and harmful category. Officers also found Cox had been sending sexually explicit messages to a 14-year-old girl online. Further investigation uncovered conversations between Cox and another girl who disclosed that he raped her multiple times between December 2017 and December 2018 when she was 15.

Cox coerced the victim into sending him explicit photos, which he used to pressure her into meeting again where he raped her on two further occasions. He initially denied the sexual conversations with the 14-year-old and the rape allegations, but eventually pleaded guilty to engaging in sexual communication with a child and making indecent photographs/pseudo-photographs of a child.

After a three-day trial at Sheffield Crown Court, Cox was found guilty on all counts of rape. He was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment and given a lifetime SHPO and restraining order against the victim.

"Cox is a depraved sex offender who caused untold pain for his victims," said DC Amy Shore of the Protecting Vulnerable People Team. "I am thankful that he will spend more than a decade behind bars for his string of crimes." The lengthy sentence provides some sense of closure for his victims, and hopefully allows them to move on with their lives.
