Former Firefighter Sentenced for Rape of Schoolgirl

Kevin Jones, 49, of Norman Road, Runcorn, was sentenced to 10 years in prison with an additional five years on licence after pleading guilty to six sexual offences, including three counts of rape of a girl under 16.

The abuse occurred over a three-year period, from when the victim was 13 to 16 years old. Jones's crimes continued until September 19, 2022.

Detective Constable Michaela Flynn, who led the investigation, commended the victim's bravery and determination throughout the process. She described Jones's actions as "horrifying" and stated that he "systematically abused her over a three-year period to fulfill his own sexual gratification."

Cheshire Police emphasized their commitment to taking all reports of sexual offences seriously and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice. They encouraged any other victims to come forward and report their experiences.
