Kevin Manson, 36, of Sandveien, was sentenced in Lerwick Sheriff Court for possession of indecent images of children.

Manson had previously pleaded guilty to possessing the images at an address on Robertson Crescent between June 11th and October 30th, 2020.

A mobile phone and memory card examination revealed four category C images, considered at the lower end of the classification scale. The images depicted children between the ages of eight and 13.

During sentencing, defence agent Martin Morrow presented a social work report that deemed Manson as low risk. Morrow also stated that Manson was eager to contribute positively to the community.

Sheriff Ian Cruickshank sentenced Manson to 100 hours of unpaid work and six months of supervision, as an alternative to imprisonment.

Manson was placed on the sex offenders register for six months, and his phone was forfeited at the request of the Crown.
