Dangerous Paedophile Jailed for Attempted Sexual Assault

A dangerous paedophile, Kevin Walsh, has been sentenced to eight years and eight months in prison for a series of offenses, including attempted sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl.

Walsh, 59, was caught by police in November 2023 when he travelled to Nottinghamshire to meet a girl he believed was 12 years old, in order to rape her. Unbeknownst to him, he had been communicating with specialist law enforcement officers.

Analysis of Walsh's seized mobile phone and laptop revealed a history of child sexual abuse offenses, dating back over a prolonged period.

Walsh pleaded guilty to a total of 17 offenses, including:

• Distributing indecent images of a child
• Making indecent images of a child
• Attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child
• Attempting to cause a child to watch an image of sexual activity
• Arranging the commission of an offence of sexual activity with a child
• Possessing an extreme image
• Engaging in sexual communications with a child
• Attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity

The investigation uncovered that Walsh had been active on social media distributing indecent images of children and engaging in online conversations about child sexual abuse. He had also arranged to drug and rape a young child in Wales and planned to travel to Surrey to sexually assault a 13-year-old girl.
