Sexual Predator Jailed for Raping 14-Year-Old Girl

Khayrul Islam, 29, of Ropley Street, Tower Hamlets, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the rape and sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.

Islam, who was known to the victim's family, contacted the teenager on her birthday and invited her to his home to celebrate. He gave the girl alcohol until she was intoxicated, and then sexually assaulted and raped her.

The victim managed to escape and flagged down a passing police car. While she was too shocked to remember the exact address, Islam's phone number allowed police to trace his location.

"Khayrul Islam is a dangerous sex offender who deliberately targeted a young vulnerable girl and lured her into a situation where he could sexually assault and rape her," said Detective Sergeant Michael Dixon of the Met's Central East Safeguarding Team.

Islam was convicted on January 8th at Snaresbrook Crown Court and sentenced on June 5th. In addition to the prison sentence, he was also given a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order with strict conditions to monitor his behavior.
