Paedophile clown found in house with child's 'racing car bed'.
Former Children's Entertainer Jailed for Failing to Notify Police of Move
A former children's entertainer and clown, Kingsley Perera, has been sentenced for failing to notify police of a change of address, despite being subject to a sexual harm prevention order.
Perera, 59, was previously jailed for 10 months in December 2020 after being found guilty of possessing thousands of indecent images of children. He was ordered to inform police of any new address within three days.
Swansea Crown Court heard that Perera had moved to a new property on Pen-y-Cae Road in Port Talbot, but failed to inform the authorities. Police officers discovered him at the address following information received from the Department for Work and Pensions.
The court was told that officers were concerned about a child's bedroom found at the property, which included a "racing car" bed. Perera's defense argued that he had been evicted from his previous home and had "memory issues" that led to him forgetting to notify the police.
While acknowledging Perera's guilty plea, Judge Wayne Beard expressed concern about the defendant's continued denial of the possession of images charges. However, he ultimately decided that a suspended sentence and rehabilitation program would be more beneficial for public protection.
Perera was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months, and ordered to complete a rehabilitation requirement with a Maps for Change sex offenders course.
