Paedophile Sentenced for Sharing Child Rape Videos

A 23-year-old man has been jailed for 18 months after admitting to downloading, possessing, and distributing indecent images of children, including child rape videos, on WhatsApp.

Kyle Griffiths, from Prescot, engaged in "extremely disturbing" conversations with other paedophiles on WhatsApp, fantasising about raping a baby and sharing vile videos and images of child sexual abuse.

Police raided Griffiths' home in July 2020 after receiving information about the uploading of indecent images. They seized his phone and found 47 Category A indecent images, including 13 videos depicting child rape, along with 41 Category B and 28 Category C images, as well as 1,616 prohibited cartoon images of children.

The court heard that Griffiths had also distributed Category A, B, and C indecent images on WhatsApp. He sent a Category A video, two Category B photos, and a Category C photo to one person on April 2, and then on April 5 sent two Category A photos and one Category C photo to another person.

One Category A video showed a baby aged between four to six months being raped and another a girl aged three or four being raped.

Griffiths pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 18 months in prison. He was also ordered to comply with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and sign on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.

Judge Denis Watson, QC, acknowledged Griffiths' remorse and efforts to seek therapy, but stated that the "dominant factor" in his decision was the distribution of Category A images.
