Rapist who attacked an 83-year-old woman in her own home.

Remorseless Rapist Jailed for Attacking 83-Year-Old Woman

Kyle McKenzie, 23, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison after admitting to the brutal rape of an 83-year-old woman in her own home.

The attack occurred on June 25, 2020, when McKenzie broke into a property in Glenrothes, Fife, and subjected the elderly woman to a horrific ordeal. Police described the attack as "particularly brutal" and highlighted the vulnerability of the victim.

McKenzie pleaded guilty to the crime on November 16 and was sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh today. Despite admitting his guilt, he showed no remorse for his actions.

Senior investigating officer DI Darren Stewart stated: "Kyle McKenzie is clearly a very dangerous, opportunistic individual. He carried out a particularly brutal attack on a vulnerable woman, submitting her to a harrowing ordeal in the one place in the world she should have been safest, her own home."

Stewart continued, "He showed no contrition for his reprehensible behaviour when he was charged. However, he will now face the consequences of his actions having admitted his guilt. A large-scale police investigation was carried out following this incident which ultimately identified McKenzie as being the individual responsible."

He expressed gratitude to the public and partner agencies for their support and information, particularly in providing assistance to the victim. "Police Scotland treats all reports of sexual crime with the utmost professionalism and sensitivity in order to bring perpetrators of such crimes such as Kyle McKenzie to justice," he concluded.
