Convicted Sex Offender Jailed for Child Abuse Images

A convicted sex offender, Lee Williams (56), has been sentenced to two years and eight months in prison for possessing child abuse images and breaching a sexual harm prevention order.

During a routine inspection at Williams' home in St Neots in April 2021, specialist officers discovered searches on his computer for terms like "children in swimwear" and found 25 category A images, the most serious level of child abuse imagery.

Williams initially refused to provide access to his spare phone and computer, claiming he hadn't set the computer up yet and providing incorrect passwords. However, forensics analysis of the seized devices revealed the child abuse images.

Williams pleaded guilty to three counts of breaching a sexual harm prevention order and three counts of making indecent images of children.

Detective Constable Decca Riondino stated: "Specially trained officers will continue to monitor and engage with registered sex offenders in the community, and device inspections are crucial to our work. Williams blatantly disregarded his sexual harm prevention order. We work with partner agencies to safeguard the public and bring offenders to justice."

The public is encouraged to use Sarah's Law to seek information about potential sex offenders who might pose a risk to children. Anyone concerned about a child's welfare can inquire through Sarah's Law, including parents, carers, guardians, extended family, friends, and neighbors.
