Lewis Davey Jailed for Sexually Assaulting Young Girl
Lewis Davey, a 51-year-old man from Cirencester, was sentenced to eight years in prison for sexually assaulting a young girl under the age of 13 and voyeurism.
The offences occurred in May last year, and Davey was convicted after a four-day trial at Gloucester Crown Court on September 19. He was found guilty of both charges: sexually assaulting a girl aged under 13 and observing a person engaging in a private act.
Davey, of Bowly Crescent, Siddington, Cirencester, was deemed an 'offender of particular concern' by the court. In addition to his prison sentence, he will serve an extended licence period of one year. A Sexual Harm Prevention Order lasting 15 years from conviction prohibits Davey from unsupervised contact with any child under the age of 16, except for his own children.
Exceptions to this order include inadvertent contact and when contact is not reasonably avoidable in the course of daily life, as well as if Davey has consent from a child's parent or guardian who is aware of his convictions and has received written consent from social services.
Davey was also added to the sex offenders register.
