Convicted Barrow Child Sex Offender Louis Killip Charged With Breaching Orders
A convicted child sex offender from Barrow has been charged with multiple offences, including breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and failing to comply with notification requirements.
Louis Killip was jailed for 18 months in August 2023 after he attempted to incite a child to engage in sexual activity and attempted to engage a child in sexual communication. During that case, the 52-year-old was made subject to a SHPO and notification requirements after using Snapchat to solicit images and send pictures of his penis to who he believed was a 14-year-old girl.
Killip has now been charged with four counts of failing to comply with the notification requirements of the sex offenders register, one count of breaching his SHPO, and a further count of making one indecent photograph of a child. Court charges indicate Killip failed to notify police of a number of aliases used on Facebook, Google Instagram and TikTok on January 23 this year.
He is also accused of failing to produce an internet-enabled mobile device upon request to the police on January 21. The Crown Prosecution Service further alleges Killip made one indecent photograph of a child on November 11, 2024.
Killip offered no indication of plea to the offences at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court on January 25. Magistrates sent the case to Preston Crown Court where he will next appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing on February 26. They remanded Killip back into custody ahead of the hearing due to his previous record and character, as well as deeming him likely to offend.
