Man Jailed for Sexual Assault at Train Station

A 42-year-old man, Lutfullah Elham, has been sentenced to 12 months in prison after being found guilty of sexually assaulting two young women at Pontypool Railway Station.

The court heard that Elham, described as "preying on his victims", first approached a 19-year-old woman asking for directions. After she attempted to move away, Elham panicked and fled when a vehicle slowed down nearby.

Just a few days later, Elham approached a woman in her twenties on his bike as she walked away from the station. He grabbed her and tried to kiss her before she managed to break free. The incidents occurred on June 9th and June 15th, 2022, respectively.

Investigating officer DC Chris Bolton stated: "These two incidents demonstrate a disturbing pattern of behavior from Elham, targeting lone young women going about their daily routines. Elham will now have the opportunity to reflect on his actions while incarcerated. We take all reports of sexual assault seriously and with the full support of the victims, we can be confident that Elham will not be able to harm anyone else."

Elham, of Llandegfredd Way, New Inn, Pontypool, was sentenced to 12 months in prison and will be required to register as a sex offender for 10 years.
