Birmingham Man Jailed for 21 Years for Rapes and Sexual Abuse

A Birmingham man has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for multiple rapes against a woman and historic sexual abuse of two children.

Marcus Newton, 27, from Aston, was found guilty following a trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court on July 26th. He was also placed on the sex offenders register for life.

Newton was convicted of two charges of raping a child under 13, one charge of sexually assaulting a child under 13, and three charges of rape.

The investigation began when one of Newton's victims came forward, revealing the abuse he had suffered as a young boy and the lasting impact it had on his mental health.

Following this, two more victims came forward. One, a woman, reported being raped by Newton in 2018 and 2019. Another woman disclosed being raped by him over a four-year period while she was a child. Evidence from the woman's phone, including messages and pictures sent by Newton, corroborated her account.
