Mark Bridger sentenced to life in prison for murder of April Jones
Mark Bridger was sentenced to life in prison in May 2013 after being found guilty of abducting and murdering five-year-old April Jones. The jury at Mold Crown Court found him guilty of the crime, and he was handed a whole life tariff, meaning he will die behind bars.
Mr Justice Griffith Williams, who sentenced Bridger, branded him a "pathological liar" and a "paedophile." In his sentencing remarks, the judge stated: "There is no doubt in my mind that you are a paedophile, who has for some time harboured sexual and morbid fantasies about young girls."
The judge also highlighted that Bridger had stored "not only images of pre-pubescent and pubescent girls but foul pornography of the gross sexual abuse of young children" on his laptop.
Bridger became the 32nd person in UK history to be handed a whole life tariff after being found guilty of murder.
