Man Jailed for 28 Years for Sexual Abuse of a Young Girl
Mark Anthony Foster, also known as Tony, of Forster Avenue, Weaverham, has been sentenced to 28 years in prison for a series of sexual abuse offenses against a young girl.
Foster, 62, was found guilty of 11 counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14, four counts of rape of a girl under 16, four counts of gross indecency with a girl under 14, and one count of rape of a girl over 16 on April 12, 2023, following a 13-day trial at Chester Crown Court.
The court heard that Foster committed the offenses between 1995 and 2001, when the victim was aged between nine and sixteen. The abuse began with indecent assaults and escalated to rape, becoming increasingly violent over time.
In a disturbing detail, the court heard that Foster administered medication to the victim before raping her. The victim bravely came forward to report the abuse to Cheshire Police in August 2020, prompting the investigation.
Despite denying the allegations in interviews following his arrest, Foster was charged in January 2023 and found guilty after a lengthy trial. In addition to his prison sentence, Foster will be subject to an indefinite restraining order to protect the victim, an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, and will be registered as a sex offender for life.
