Sexually assaulted girl in park.
Dangerous Sex Attacker Jailed
A dangerous and predatory sex attacker has been sentenced to four years and seven months in prison for abducting a young schoolgirl, dragging her into the woods, and sexually assaulting her.
Martin Duna, 19, threatened to kill the terrified child during the attack, which occurred in broad daylight in Bowling Park, Bradford, on October 11, 2022.
Duna, of New Hey Road, East Bowling, Bradford, pleaded guilty to sexual assault on a girl under the age of 13 and robbery of her phone.
The court heard that Duna, a stranger to the victim, followed her after getting up from a park bench. He grabbed her and pushed her into the woods, where he sexually assaulted her.
Duna was described as a dangerous offender and was given a five-year extended licence period on top of his prison sentence.
The victim, who was left traumatized by the attack, said she no longer felt safe going to the park and still suffers from flashbacks and difficulty sleeping.
Judge Jonathan Rose called the attack "horrendous" and said that Duna had "failed to give any explanation for his behaviour." He also noted that Duna had lied about watching pornography and was in a relationship at the time of the offenses.
Duna was placed on the sex offender register for life and was given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
