Pervert who tried to make two young girls engage in vile sexual acts.
Ikea worker jailed for eight years for sexual abuse of young girls
Michael Batty, 44, was sentenced to eight years in prison for carrying out sickening abuse against two young girls in North Yorkshire.
The offenses, which took place several years ago, came to light when one of the girls confided in her mother about the abuse, stating that Batty "had touched her" and "made her do stuff that just wasn't right."
Police investigations led to the other girl, who initially denied any abuse, later disclosing the horrific details. In a powerful statement, one of the victims expressed her hope that Batty would feel the guilt he inflicted upon her.
"You took away my innocence in a way no one ever should," she stated. "You have no control over me anymore and now everyone will see who you really are."
During mitigation, the court heard that a report indicated Batty had a high probability of having ADHD and a below-average IQ of 74. The defense argued that Batty had led a "simple and very blameless life" and "he can't even explain why this happened."
Batty, of Milford Lane, Thorverton, Devon, pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault of a child and five counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. He denied attempting to rape a child and causing a child to watch a sex act, and the prosecution agreed to drop those charges.
