Obsessed Man Threatened Schoolgirl with Acid and Stabbing

A 35-year-old man, Michael Collins, has been sentenced to five years in prison for engaging in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old schoolgirl and making threats against her.

Collins, who had recently been released from prison, met the girl on Facebook last summer while she was searching for her biological mother. He quickly became possessive and threatened to throw acid in her face and stab her outside her school.

The court heard that although the threats were empty, the girl took them seriously. The couple had met several times, including having sex while the girl was in her school uniform.

The relationship came to light in November when the girl confided in a teaching mentor about the situation. The police were called, and Collins was arrested.

Collins pleaded guilty to six offenses, including sexual activity with a child, engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

The judge acknowledged that the relationship was characterized by genuine affection but emphasized the seriousness of the age difference and the threats made by Collins.

Collins has been ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life and will be subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
