Teenage Dealer imprisoned & sexually assaulted Drug Addict.
Mohammed Iqbal, 19, Sentenced to 12 Years for Brutal Abuse and Humiliation
Mohammed Iqbal was handed a 12-year sentence at Leeds Crown Court for the horrific abuse he inflicted on a man in his own Wakefield flat between April and May of last year. Iqbal, who had denied the charges, was found guilty after a trial in February.
The court heard that Iqbal preyed on the man, who suffers from severe mental health issues, after selling him drugs. He repeatedly assaulted the victim with weapons, causing significant bruising and burns, including with a lit cigarette.
"You further humiliated him by sexually abusing him. He lived in fear of the assaults," said Recorder Hill-Baker. Iqbal forced the man to perform a sex act on two occasions and sexually assaulted him with a vacuum cleaner. He also threatened to give crack cocaine to the man's son if he reported the abuse to the police.
Iqbal was found guilty of sexual assault, causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent, holding a person in slavery or servitude, two counts of actual bodily harm and attempted assault by penetration.
"It was not a single offence, it was a course of conduct, and I have come to the conclusion you are a dangerous offender," stated Recorder Hill-Baker.
The 12-year sentence includes 10 years in prison with an extended licence period of two years. Iqbal was also issued with an indefinite restraining order to keep him away from the victim and must register as a sex offender for life.
