Care worker who sexually abused a severely disabled person.

Maidstone Care Worker Jailed for Sexually Abusing Vulnerable Patient

Naguib Lootfun, 69, of Mill Walk, Maidstone, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for sexually abusing a severely disabled patient while working at an assisted living facility.

Suspicions about Lootfun's behaviour were raised on 8 May 2024 when colleagues discovered an empty condom wrapper in a bedroom after he had completed a night shift. Lootfun initially claimed the wrapper had been in his pocket and accidentally fell out, but this explanation was deemed unconvincing.

The following day, a used condom was found in a bin bag within the care home, leading to Lootfun's arrest on suspicion of rape. While he initially denied allegations of sexual abuse, further evidence came to light during a search of the premises. A second used condom was found in the waste bin area outside, and DNA analysis linked Lootfun to the offenses.

On 9 July at Maidstone Crown Court, Lootfun admitted to having sex with the victim, who was incapable of consenting. He was subsequently convicted and remanded in custody pending sentencing.

At his sentencing hearing on 9 October, Lootfun was given an 11-year prison sentence and ordered to serve an additional four years on licence.
