Paedophile Jailed for 10 Years as 'Dangerous Offender'

Nathan Roe, a 21-year-old from Bradford, has been sentenced to a 10-year extended sentence, including six years in prison and four years on extended licence, after being deemed a "dangerous offender." Roe groomed two teenage boys over social media and attempted to meet them for sexual activity, despite previous convictions for similar offences.

Roe had previously received a two-year community order in May 2022 for offences involving a "decoy" undercover police officer posing as a child online. However, within two weeks, monitoring software detected his sexually explicit messages to another victim, leading to his latest arrest.

Recorder Paul Reid KC, presiding over the case, highlighted Roe's significant risk of causing serious harm and the deeply manipulative nature of his actions. Roe pleaded guilty to charges related to arranging to meet a child for sexual activity, inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and sexual communication with a child.

The court heard that Roe, who admitted to an active sexual interest in underage boys, had even met one of the victims and touched his bottom and hugged him. Disturbingly, a pre-sentence report revealed Roe's lack of remorse and his hope that such behaviour might become legal in the future.

Roe will now serve at least two-thirds of the six-year prison sentence and will be required to register as a sex offender and comply with an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
