Police Release Mugshot of Winsford Man Jailed for Approaching Underage Children

Neil Owen, 53, of Abbotts Way, Winsford, has been jailed for 89 weeks after pleading guilty to breaching an 18-year-old court order. The sexual offences prevention order, imposed in 2005, banned him from communicating with children.

On August 24, Owen breached the order by twice approaching and communicating with a 15-year-old child. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison by Judge Patrick Thompson, with an additional 11 weeks to be served due to a suspended sentence imposed last month.

Prior to his arrest, Owen had been sentenced to 11 weeks in jail, suspended for 12 months, by Crewe Magistrates' Court on August 10. This sentence stemmed from an incident at the Red Lion pub in Wharton in July where Owen was charged with assault by beating, using threatening or abusive words, and breaching a community protection order.

Owen's aggressive behavior and swearing led to an assault on another man, further violating a community protection order imposed in January after an incident at the Winsford Lifestyle Centre involving ambulance staff. Despite his ongoing rehabilitation work with the Probation Service, the latest offense triggered the execution of the suspended sentence.
