Man Sentenced to Prison for Sexual Communication with a Child

A 34-year-old man, Phillip Trevor Cornock, has been sentenced to more than a year in prison after pleading guilty to sexual communication with a child.

Cornock, formerly of Denzil Avenue in Southampton, appeared at Southampton Crown Court on Thursday, August 31, 2023, where he was sentenced for attempting to communicate with a child under 16 for sexual gratification.

The court heard that between August and October 2022, Cornock exchanged messages, often of a highly sexual nature, with a boy he believed to be 14 years old. He had also made arrangements to meet with the child in Southampton, but the victim was not real.

Cornock was charged and appeared at Southampton Crown Court on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, where he pleaded guilty to one count of attempting to communicate with a child under 16 for sexual gratification.

At the same court on August 31, Cornock was sentenced to 14 months in prison. He was also placed on the sex offenders' register and subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for a period of ten years.
